Jovenel Moïse fears famine in Haiti after Covid-19

“To govern is to plan. As head of state, I have to wonder about what lies ahead after the coronavirus. It is obvious that there will be many problems, there will be famine … “, said the President of the Republic during an address to the nation on Monday, April 27, 2020.

Jovenel Moïse underlined that the unemployment rate in the country is already very high and the whole world will experience an economic recession after the pandemic. 

According to the nation’s leader, each country will do everything to recapitalize its national companies. “If we do not prepare today, after the coronavirus we will have a lot of problems,” the president said.

Moise said he asked his Prime Minister to speed up the process of setting up the economic unit which will allow reflection to see how to revive the country’s economy after the coronavirus.

The head of state said further that the Ministry of Agriculture has already started with the plowing of agricultural sectors in several areas.
