To combat the insecurity that reigns at the southern entrance to Port-au-Prince, in particular at Village de Dieu controlled by armed gangs, the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Lucmanne Delille gave 72 hours to honest citizens living in Village de Dieu to leave the area.

The decision was announced at a media availability this Friday, April 24, at the official residence of Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe.

“I am addressing citizens, I think there are good people living in the area. They have 72 hours to leave. Everyone who is not a member of a gang, who is not involved in criminal activity, has 72 hours to leave. After this time, we will not be responsible for what might happen to them. The state has a monopoly on legitimate violence. Therefore the state will act. The unacceptable cannot be defended. We are asking the people to cooperate because they will be released shortly, ”said the Minister of Justice and Public Security.
