Alexis Sanchez and Miralem Pjanic are heading back to Italy, as it becomes increasingly likely Serie A clubs will resume training on May 4, with games by May 27-31.
Several players who went abroad during the lockdown – having sat out the mandatory 14-day quarantine period at home – have returned over the last few days.
Pjanic posted on social media that he was getting on to a private jet going to Turin for Juventus, while Alexis Sanchez is reportedly on his way back from Chile tomorrow.
They need to return now because they’ll have to self-isolate at home for 14 days before beginning the FIGC protocol to resume training.
That is expected to start with blood tests and swabs on April 27-30.
The idea then will be to resume training on May 4, getting the players ready for games – probably the Coppa Italia semi-finals first – from May 27.
Serie A fixtures can resume from early June with the plan of concluding by mid-July.
This timing is important, but Juventus are a little behind, with Gonzalo Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo still abroad, with no sign of their return yet.
