When the summer transfer window eventually opens, Julian Draxler is a name that could potentially depart from the Paris Saint-Germain squad.
According to Foot Mercato, Hertha BSC and Arsenal FC are two clubs vying for the services of the German midfielder.
Since arriving from VfL Wolfsburg in 2017, the 26-year-old has seen his playing time and value decrease in the French capital. With Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappé commanding the wing positions along with Marco Verratti and Idrissa Gueye regularly starting at central midfield, there’s nowhere for Draxler to start.
This season, Draxler had made 19 total appearances for PSG with only five assists to his credit. Starting 26 percent of the time per Transfermarkt, there’s only so much he can do, which is why the Ligue 1 leaders should look to move the player on since they clearly don’t really need him.
When it comes to potential transfer partners, there are two possible destinations for the 26-year-old. Over the winter transfer window, Hertha and then manager, Jürgen Klinsmann, were interested in purchasing Draxler. However, a deal never materialized. Meanwhile, the Gunners have long had an interest in the German.
As for the cost, Transfermarkt sets Draxler’s value at €24 million. However, with a club like Arsenal potentially in the running, PSG could probably squeeze out a bit more money consider the overspending label the English club has earned. Or, perhaps a swap deal involving Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be worked out.
