
Covid-19 is gaining ground in Haiti. The wearing of masks by the whole population seems to be the measure prioritized by the government to limit the spread of the disease in the country. For the President of the Republic, wearing a mask is essential. Jovenel Moïse has announced the distribution of three million masks, notably in public markets.
“Wearing a mask is very important, not to say essential today. Many countries have experienced it and it has worked well, “said the President on Monday in an address to the nation. He asked Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe to proceed with the distribution of masks in order, he said, to see this Wednesday, April 15, people wearing masks throughout the territory.Jovenel Moïse, who did not specify if the masks are already available, said that the multisectoral commission co-chaired by Drs Jean William Pape and Lauré Adrien has three million masks, 13,000 gowns for medical staff and more five thousand gallons of alcohol-based solution.

Covid-19 at the Mirebalais University Hospital: between managing the present and fear of the future

Haiti’s public works minister fears widespread spread of covid 19

Radio Metrople report that Public Works minister, Joiséus Nader, said that the country will adopt strong measures to enforce the the state of emergency. Nader, an engineer, fears a large spread of covid 19 because many Haitians don’t believe that the coronavirus is real.
The Minister is particularly concerned about the continuation of rara’s activities and the public markets. The minister said that drastic measures will be taken if people insists on large gathering.
