RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann admits that Yussuf Poulsen isn’t happy with his current role at the club.

But contrary to what was reported by Sport Bild last week, Poulsen hasn’t said he wants to leave the club, according to Nagelsmann.

“I had a long talk with him before the corona break. He’s a player, who proactively approaches the coach and wants to know what’s going on. He must bite the bullet and assert himself. He knows what I want to see from him,” Nagelsmann told Bild and continued:

“It’s quite clear that he’s not satisfied with his situation, but he didn’t tell me that he wants to leave. It’s logical to say that if his situation doesn’t improve, it would be an option. I consider this to be completely normal. It’s the same for every player. Right now, he just wants to be a starter.”

Poulsen’s agent, Poul-Erik Petersen, recently commented on the striker’s situation, telling Danish news outlet TV 2 that his client isn’t looking to leave at the moment.

“Yussuf hasn’t asked to leave, and there are no negotiations with other clubs,” Petersen said.

The Danish international has been linked with Newcastle, Everton and West Ham. However, Petersen has suggested that the 25-year-old wouldn’t be interested in joining an English mid-table team.
