ALBANY — A third state Assemblymember has been diagnosed with coronavirus, Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie said Thursday.
Assemblywoman Kimberly Jean-Pierre (D-Suffolk) tested positive for COVID-19 a day after traveling to the state capital to take part in the legislative process and vote on a pair of coronavirus-related bills.
Heastie said Jean-Pierre did not have any contact with other assemblymembers or staff and was tested after a family member became ill.
“I have spoken to Kimberly and she has told me that she is back home in her district, self-quarantining and doing well,” Heastie said.
