Police officer shot and injured on Champ de Mars as tensions rise

Tensions came to boiling point on Champ de Mars after some plainclothes police took part in a march and shot in the air once they arrived in the downtown area, reported Juno7.  Military soldiers reacted by firing warning shots. The situation escalated between both plainclothes police officers claiming to be from the national police union and other uniformed police and Haitian Armed Forces.  A police officer part of a specialized unit was shot and injured during the clash.
