In a statement issued on Jan. 12, Justin Trudeau, prime minister of Canada, called on Canadians to offer their condolences and join Haitians around the world to remember the hundreds of thousands of victims that died in the quake, including 58 Canadians.
“On this solemn anniversary, we join Haitian communities in Canada and around the world to remember the victims, and offer our condolences to those who lost loved ones,” he said.
“Over the last decade, the Haitian people have shown incredible resilience in the face of challenges and obstacles, as they continue to work toward a better tomorrow.”
