
Luis Almagro, Secretary General of Organization of American States (OAS), met with President Jovenel Moise on Jan. 7 in Haiti, where they discussed the ongoing political conflict in the country.
“Today I reiterated to President @moisejovenel our staunch support for good governance & political stability in #Haiti, which includes reaching a political agreement, promoting constant and inclusive dialogue,” Almagro said in a tweet.
“One of the priorities that we discussed with President @moisejovenel is the fight against corruption. The @OAS_official General Secretariat is ready to support the Government of #Haiti to fight corruption and impunity, and strengthen democratic institutions.”
Almagro also met with Joseph Lambert, of the political party KONA; Rolph Papillon, ally of the ruling administration; and Evalière Beauplan, member of the opposition. The Haitian parliament representatives were able to express their position on the socio-political situation in Haiti.
