
The Petrocaribe program will resume in Haiti in 2020, Venezuelan President Nicolas Madura announced on Dec. 14 at the closing ceremony of the 17th summit of the Bolivian Alliance for the Peoples of America (ALBA), according to a report from Juno 7. The aid program, created in 2005 by the late Hugo Chávez, allows member countries to buy Venezuelan oil on preferential payment terms as well as longer payment periods; however the program was suspended in June 2018.
