On Nov. 24, a French couple was shot dead in front of their hotel in Delmas. According to information available, it was an attempted robbery that went wrong. The French Embassy confirmed the couple’s death on Monday, Nov. 25, while expressing its sorrow and condolences to the relatives of the victims.

“It is with great emotion that we learned of the deaths of two compatriots in Haiti following an assault. We express our condolences to their families and loved ones”, reads a statement on the Embassy’s website.

The embassy also shared, that it has contacted local authorities to investigate this tragedy.

According to the newspaper Le Parisien, the couple came to the country in order to adopt a child.

It should be noted that since the beginning of the crisis in mid-September, no less than 42 people have died and 86 have been wounded, according to the United Nations.
