3 Men Arrested in Port-au-Prince for Possession of Illegal Weapons
Lucien Dior, Marc Orel Ham and Désir Fredy-son were apprehended on Oct. 16 by officers from the Haitian National Police (PNH), according to local reports. Evans Paul, Jean Rodolphe Joazile, Sainphor Liné Balthazard and Josué Pierre-Louis resigned from their posts in a special commission to foster dialogue with the President Jovenel Moise.
“Following the statements of the President of the Republic at the press conference held on October 15, 2019, at the National Palace, which invalidated the work already undertaken by the committee responsible for leading the discussions for a concerted solution to end the crisis We, the undersigned, regret to inform you that we have decided to withdraw from this committee,” reads in a correspondence bearing the signatures of Evans Paul, Jean Rodolphe Joazile, Sainphor Liné Balthazard and Josué Pierre-Louis sent, Wednesday, October 16 to the Secretary General of the Presidency, Lyonel Valbrun. Haitian American Boxer Patrick Dies From Injuries Sustained from Saturday’s Fight
Boxer Patrick Day died Wednesday after suffering a traumatic brain injury Saturday night during a bout in Chicago. He was 27.
Day was hospitalized and in “extremely critical condition” Saturday night after he was knocked out by Charles Conwell in the 10th round of their USBA super welterweight title fight. Day was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and underwent emergency surgery. He lapsed into a coma and never regained consciousness. Continue reading
