The Del Rio Sector on the Texas-Mexico border spans 59,541 square miles and reaches 300 miles into the state.

Every day during the past week Border Patrol agents have arrested Haitian nationals, a news release states. More than 180 Haitians were arrested near Del Rio, up from 17 the eight months prior. 

“Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents have apprehended immigrants from 44 countries around the world,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Raul L. Ortiz in the release. “Our agents … continue to meet each new challenge as the ongoing humanitarian crisis evolves.”

On Tuesday, June 11, 2019 agents assigned to the Del Rio Station arrested 14 people from Haiti.  During the week after, agents encountered increasingly larger groups of Haitian nationals, including a group of 44 on Monday, June 17, the release states. Continue reading
