Vania Andre to Join Panel on Technology’s Role in Transforming Haiti
On Friday, June 21, Haitian Times publisher, Vania Andre will moderate a panel titled, “Haiti in Year 2234- The Pearl of the Caribbean Rises from the Ashes” at the 3rd Annual Haiti Tech Summit (HTS) in Montrouis, Haiti. Founded by Christine Souffrant Ntim, HTS brings together thousands of entrepreneurs, investors, digital marketers and creatives to the Island to address the country’s greatest challenges via entrepreneurship.
For the second year in a row, Andre will join industry leaders and policy-makers to examine how technology is transforming Haiti’s ten primary industries. The panel will explore Haiti’s current socioeconomic environment and identify existing programs and initiatives that use technology to solve some of Haiti’s most significant challenges. Andre will appear on the panel with Patrick Attie, Founder and Director of Ecole Supérieure d’Infotronique d’Haiti, a private higher education institution; Rock Andre, President of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Leadership in Haiti; and Max Larson Henry, President of the Haitian Association for Information and Communication Technologies.
“At a time when Haiti is once again in the media for civil unrest, it is refreshing to be a part of an international event that showcases the country’s talent on a global stage,” said Andre, Publisher at Haitian Times. “Too often, we only focus on Haiti’s persistent problems. This is an opportunity to discuss solutions that will propel the country forward.”
HTS’s two-day technology summit is a part of a 13-year initiative to turn Haiti into an international tech hub by 2030. Deemed the “Davos of the Caribbean,” its past keynote speakers such include Jack Dorsey, founder of Twitter, and Haiti’s President Jovenel Moise.
