During the the 9th edition of the International Finance Summit, Jean Baden Dubois, governor of the Bank of Haiti called for more investments in agriculture to support tourism needs in the country. Arts & Culture Exhibit Looks to Inspire Hope in Haiti Youth
On April 27, more than 20 young people took part in Kreyol’Art exhibit hosted at the Collège Saint-Louis Roi de France where they showcased their jewelry, handbags and more.
This exhibit is about “wanting to help young people keep their eyes fixed on their goals and to believe a new Haiti is possible,” Ruth Josse Archnide René, who founded the fair in 2018. Continue reading
UN Program in Haiti to Reduce Violence Among At-Risk Youth Comes to An End
The United Nations Mission in Support of Justice in Haiti (MINUJUSTH) today concluded their 11-month program that looked to improve the a ocio-economic conditions and safety of 173 at-risk youth aged 17 to 28. The program, which targeted youth in Cité Soleil, Martissant, La Saline and Cap-Haïtien, provided vocational training and employment opportunities. Continue reading
New Report Reveals Significant Barriers In Equal Access To Education For New York City Haitian Immigrant Students
A newly-released report finds that New York City is failing new Haitian immigrant high school students. The survey, conducted by The Flanbwayan Literacy Project, in partnership with the Community Development Project, finds that Haitian immigrants enrolled in high schools through New York City Family Welcome Centers do not receive the information or support they need to be successful.
