Haiti’s State University Hospital is Hampered by Missing Materials and Doctors

Because Haiti’s State University Hospital is near the National Palace, it is one of the biggest victims of those demonstrations. Since Friday, some patients hospitalized in services such as pediatrics, internal medicine have been relocated to escape the harmful effects of tear gas launched in the area by the police attempting to disperse protesters.

Laboratories and pharmacies have closed their doors, health professionals are leaving the hospital one by one and there are almost no more sterilised materials left to be working with, radio Television Caraibes reports. Continue reading

Haiti: Port-au-Prince Remains Tense After Days of Violent Protests

A crowd of violent demonstrators leaving Cite Soleil, inflicted significant losses around Petion Ville and Delmas yesterday. They formed two groups. One went to Petion Ville, the other stayed in Delmas to attack and loot companies. They managed to get into a bank. Parliamentarians Demand Resignation of President Jovenel Moise

More than a dozen senators and deputies of the opposition demand the immediate resignation of President Jovenel Moïse as a way out of the current crisis.

Gas Shortage Reported in few Cities in Haiti

After almost a week of dysfunction, some basic products are starting to become rare, like gas for example. Some areas in the capital, including Clercine, are running out of propane gas. It is also difficult to find some in Pétion-Ville and Carrefour. Due to the demonstrators’ operation “country locked”, a large number of petrol pumps have closed their doors, le Nouvelliste reports. Haiti: Police Officer Shot while Stopping Burglary

Protesters coming from Cite Soleil tried to loot the National Bank of Credit yesterday. While the police was intervening to stop the madness, a policewoman was shot in the right arm.
