Conference in Port-de-Paix to Educate on Earthquake Hazard
Local Development Support Group organized a major conference-debate in Port-de-Paix on the theme: “Seismic Hazards in the North West, How to Avoid the Worst”. This conference brought together students, teachers, professionals, religious leaders, state authorities.
“This conference, among others, is part of this campaign to educate the people of the North West not only about the existence of the North Fault, but also about the fact that this seismic fault is in activity since the 1842’s. Constant awareness campaigns are required because no one can predictt when the danger appears, but we can probably try to reduce damages, if we prepare accordingly.” said agronomist Owell Théock, one of the Group’s Board of Directors, le National reports.
