Haiti : Officials Refuses to Cooperate with Superior Administrative Court in PetroCaribe Investigation

Superior Court of Accounts and Administrative Disputes condemns the refusal of officials to provide administrative, accounting and financial information as part of the process of the PetroCaribe case. The information needed relates to the financing and execution of certain projects, which have been the subject of various resolutions taken by the Councils of Ministers during the period 2008 to September 2016. The obstacles come from officials of the Ministries of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, Economy and Finance as well as the National Institute of Vocational Training at the Ministry of Education and vocational training. The Superior Court of Accounts and Administrative Disputes urged prime minister, Jean Henry Céant, to intervene, urgently, with the heads of the administrations concerned for the follow-up, Alterpresse reports. Haiti : 58 Political Parties Have not Submitted Report

Of the 107 or so political organizations that took part in the 2014-2016 elections, only 58 were qualified to receive public funding according to the number of elected representatives obtained in the last elections.
These parties failed to submit their report before the end of the fiscal year 2017-2018 to the Superior Court of Accounts and the administrative litigation. Of the 58 political organizations eligible to receive public funding, 11 parties had not cashed their checks (these checks amounts of 15 million gourdes). Seven parties, RDNP, KONTRA PEP LA, Fanmi Lavalas, RPH, PONT, LIDE and Konfyans refused to take their checks, Radio Television Caraibes reports. Continue reading

Fellowship in Neurosurgery in Haiti at Bernard Mevs Hospital

State University of Haiti, the Ministry of Public Health and Population and the University of Miami have found a partnership to train neurosurgeons in Haiti. This program is the first to offer comprehensive training in neurosurgery in Haiti. Ultimately the program aims to train 10 highly qualified neurosurgeons in the country,Le Nouvelliste reports.
