Haiti : PetroCaribe Sit-in Held in front of Primature

Several young people gathered in front of the Primature in a sit-in to demand accountability on the management of Petrocaribe funds. These young people, who got together with the Rally of Engaged Organizations, have dressed in yellow vests and jerseys written “Kot Kob PetroKaribe a?”(Where’s the PetroCaribe money).
They promise to radicalize the movement like their French counterparts if the government does not hold anyone accountable, Radio Television Caraibes reports. Continue reading

New Board of Directors at the Haitian Creole Academy

A new 7-member Board of Directors has been formed to lead the Haitian Creole Academy whose mission is to promote the language in society.

The new members are: academicians Pierre-André Pierre (president), Michel Frantz Grandoit (vice-president), Guy Gérald Ménard (general secretary), Marie Jocelyne Trouillot (councilor), Rosilia François (councilor), Michel Ange Hyppolite (councilor) and Emmanuel Michel Bazile (advisor), Alterpresse reports. Professor Renaud Piarroux, who discovered the origin of cholera in Haiti, said that unless the international community invests money to eradicate the epidemic, it will continue its deadly path.

On December 18, departmental delegate of Artibonite, Herby Dalencourt, installed new members of the Municipal Commission of Liancourt. They have two main missions: to ensure the coordination and the administration of public affairs of the municipality and the management of this new municipality, LeNational reports

Liancourt is a commune in the Saint-Marc Arrondissement, in the Artibonite department of Haiti. Once a communal section, a presidential decree on 22 July 2015 made it a commune. Continue reading

Haiti : First edition of the Christmas Market on Dec. 21 and Dec. 22

Tourism officials announced the organization of the first edition of the Christmas Market on December 21st and 22nd at Impasse Lavaud (Bois-Verna / Port- au-Prince). “It will be a gastro craft fair where students from the Haiti Hotel School, other exhibitors and representatives of the National Office of Crafts will expose their products to the public at an affordable price,” said Chief Giovanni Théodore Deputy Director of the Hotel School of Haiti, Radio Television Caraibes reports.
