17,000 active UN volunteers in Haiti in 2018

During the commemoration of the International Volunteer Day (IVD) last week, the United Nations officials said that there are more than 17,000 active volunteers in Haiti in 2018. The UN officials said that the role of volunteers has been crucial in helping to save lives during pre-hurricane evacuations, as well as in terms of emergency response, road cleaning, distribution of aid and support for people in shelters, Radio Metropole reports.
