Haiti : Contraband Products Confiscated in Customs Area.

Firearms, ammunition, drugs used for smuggling were seized in the border area during the year 2018. Legal proceedings were instituted against several traffickers.

Haiti- Economic and Social Assistance Fund Helps less Fortunate

From November 22 to 25, more than 52 disadvantaged neighborhoods in the metropolitan area benefited from the “Bourad Manje” program of the Economic and Social Assistance Fund in collaboration with the Ministry of Sectoral Affairs, which consisted in the distribution of dry rations such as rice, spaghetti, oil and beans.

“Bourad manje” is an integral part of the vast KORE PEP project, to which the Republic of Taiwan has given financial support in the amount of $ 5 million. A first tranche representing 37% of the amount, 1,666,666.00, was given symbolically on November 14th. The financing of the Taiwanese government is for a period of 3 months. Haiti- Economy : Increase in Customs Deductibles

Customs excesses have been increased by 9 billion gourdes for 2017-2018 fiscal year compared to 2016-2017. That is 19 billion gourdes this fiscal year (2017-2018) and 10 billion last year (2016-2017).

For the last three years the losses are more than 37 billion gourdes.
