Haiti Provides Update On Death Toll From Earthquake

PORT AU PRINCE, Haiti ( CMC) — Haiti said 18 people have now been confirmed dead following the 5.9 magnitude earthquake that rocked the French-speaking Caribbean Community (Caricom) country on October 6.

The Directorate of Civil Protection (DPC), in its latest revised statement, said that 580 people were injured up from the last figure of 333. The last assessment had indicated that 17 people had died. Continue reading

Fourteen children with heart defects, were operated successfully

This is the first time, on 17 missions undertaken by Gift of life, that so many children are operated, and thus delivered their cardiac pathology that hindered their life expectancy. For the moment, at least eight out of the 14 have left the block without complication. In two days, they will be able to be at home with their parents. The Minister of Agriculture, Joubert C. Angran, with the support of his partners strives to control surface water in the North East and North West. Minister Angran reveals that access to water for farmers is one of the priorities in the strategy of the Jovenel Moise’s administration. 12 large dams will be started under this administration, promised Mr. Angran. Hurricane Michael’s torrential winds had barely subsided Oct. 11 when The Office star hosted The Long Run For Recovery, Sean Penn’s charity fundraiser, in Venice, California, to launch a unique virtual marathon initiative to support hurricane Michael and Florence and Haiti relief efforts.
