The 6th Mortality, Morbidity and Service Utilization Survey (EMMUS-VI) conducted by the Haitian Institute of Childhood in collaboration with the Haitian Institute of Statistics and Informatics, sponsored by the Ministry of Public Health with the technical assistance from the World Demographic and Health Survey indicates that the Artibonite Department has the highest number of HIV cases followed by the Southeast and North departments, while the Center has the fewest infected.
The survey reveals that HIV prevalence is lower among women in urban areas, as opposed to men. Similarly, the study points out that the educational level of the population is a determining factor in the spread of the AIDS virus. Continue reading
