On Saturday, July 14, President Jovenel Moise addressed the nation in a public address on the National Television of Haiti (TNH), where he announced his acceptance of Jack Guy Lafontant’s resignation as prime minister.

Moise promised to continue conversations with different sectors in Haiti to form an inclusive government. In the wake of the protests and riots that took place last weekend, the president has been conducting several meetings with various groups.

According to the president, the next government will relieve the population of misery, and develop the agricultural and energy infrastructure of the country. He said the next government will also take measures to ensure stability, encourage investment and job creation.
