Michael Brun’s stardom is quickly rising following the release of Bayo and subsequent performances in New York City and Miami. Now, the famed DJ is looking to reach more of his fans with a new North American tour and talked with Haitian Times on what fans could expect.

On April 30, EDM DJ Michael Brun announced his “Bayo” North American tour with five dates in June.  Coming off the success of his Bayo concerts in New York last year and in Miami’s Little Haiti Cultural Center in March, the 25-year-old famed DJ decided to bring his Bayo tour across to cities along the eastern coast.

Guest appearances will include J Perry, Paul Beaubrun and Gardy Girault. The first stop on his tour is on June 8 in Orlando, and closes off in Boston on June 23.

“Since I started hosting the first Bayo block parties in Haiti and Miami, I’ve wanted to bring the concept to as many cities as possible,” Brun said. “It felt really special bringing so many different types of artists together on one stage, while also showcasing the culture. The New York City show in November sold out, and the reception was seriously incredible, so we knew it was time to expand! I’m so proud we get to bring the tour to a few more cities in June, and we’re definitely planning more to come.”

Bayo is  a yearlong project with a new song dropping every month. The sound is one that blends rara, and rasin with hip-hop, Latin music and Afro beats.

“This is a great opportunity for people to come out and see what this is all about,” Brun said in an interview with Haitian Times during the 12th Annual PAP Jazz Festival in January about the upcoming shows. “If you’ve been to Haiti, it’ll make you feel like you’re home. If you’ve never been to Haiti, I think it’ll transport you there.”

The announcement comes on the heels of his new collaboration with Colombian superstar J Balvin on Telemundo’s 2018 Deportes World Cup song “Positivo.” The song pulls from the same beat as Bayo, but incorporates new lyrics from J Balvin.

“Working on ‘Positivo’ with J Balvin was a really cool experience. He’s one of the most successful Latin artists of all time, but more importantly he wants to reach the world with his sound and culture,” Brun said. “I saw a lot of similarities between his work and mine, and I’m so proud that the song will help take Bayo even further into the world.

“Creating a World Cup anthem is a huge honor, and I know a lot of people are going to discover the beauty and richness of Haitian music through it.”
