Haitian Authors Highlighted In Upcoming Little Haiti Book Festival

This upcoming weekend is all about Haitian authors.

On May 5 and May 6, the Miami Book Fair (MBF) will host the annual Little Haiti Book Festival at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex. The festival, which features vibrant cultural exposure to writers, booksellers, performers, and more, is part of MBF’s Read Caribbean programming.  This event is free and open to the public.

The book festival will feature authors from Haiti and the Haitian Diaspora, hands-on activities for children, workshops for writers, dance and music performances, publishers, Haitian cuisine and more.

Panels include Feeding the Body, Nourishing the Soul: Haiti’s Medicinal Herbs and Cuisine and Haiti: Zombification and Identity; literary and poetry workshops, including tips for first time authors, plus a full day of activities for children including drumming and dancing, storytelling and arts and crafts.

And the profit will go to support 80% of the Haitians who don’t know how to read and write. I wish! Analphabet is a major problem in Haiti. People die because they can’t follow medical prescriptions and doses. People lost opportunities to feed their family because they don’t know how to follow a job description.
Let’s be serious about a good alphabetization program to reduce the percentage. The elite bourgeois/aristocrat intellectual is targeting a profit market and is as guilty as the elite trade and industry.
Kite mele’yo si rest pep la pa kon’n ABC e 123! Men y’ap itilize trademark ak patent kankou istwa zombie, painti, arts, desin veve,, mizik, kostim’m, dans, lang kreyol, kwizin’n kreyol, ki se propriete intelektiyel pep la.
