The Santiago Times is reporting that Latin American Wings (LAW) airline is suspending all flights between Port-au-Prince and Chile for a period of 15 days. This comes after Chilean authorities declared Haitian citizens persona non grata on Chilean territory.

According to the Santiago Times, the airline says it has always acted responsibly by informing Haitian travellers of the required documentation to enter Chile, adding: “However, since massive declaration of inadmissibility of foreign citizens causes inconvenience for both the airport and the agencies that sold the tickets, we consider that this measure will help mitigate these effects”

Over 100,000 Haitians entered Chile on a 90-day tourist visa in 2017, 80% overstayed their visa.
