Life Opens Up for Group of Newly-Literate Adults in Southern Haiti

Marise Laguerre, 60, says she is thrilled. She has learned a skill many of us apply every day and take for granted. Laguerre can now read and write.

Laguerre is one of 45 graduates of an adult literacy program organized by local women’s group CODEFEC (Combite Pour le Developpement Des Femmes de Camp Perrin) held in Laporte, a small town near Camp Perrin, in Les Cayes, southern Haiti.
