PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti – The Marriott Port-au-Prince was among the big winners at the 2017 World Travel Awards, taking home the award for Haiti’s Leading Hotel for the first time. Established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence, the World Travel Awards are the highest accolades in the travel and tourism industry today.

“To receive such a fantastic honor after just two years in operation really is a testament to our amazing staff, their pride in showcasing the best of Haiti, and the dedication we all share in delivering world class customer service,” said Ellen Wouters, General Manager of the Marriott Port-au-Prince. “We couldn’t be more proud or excited.”

Annual winners of the World Travel Awards are determined based on voting by the public, together with recommendations made by travel, tourism and hospitality industry professionals worldwide. Awards are presented at gala ceremonies held in seven distinct regions of the world – Asia and Australia, Indian Ocean, Latin America, Caribbean and North America, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. A black-tie Grand Final event caps the annual World Travel Awards program.
