OAS Secretary General to meet with Haitian President
PORT OF PRINCE, Haiti (CMC) – Secretary General of the Organisation of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro will meet with Haitian President Jocelerme Privert and other officials during a two day visit to this French speaking Caribbean nation.
Almagro, who arrived here Wednesday, will discuss the remaining steps to reinforce the trust of citizens in the electoral proves.
The Secretary General’s visit comes after officials agreed to take several decisive steps following the February 5 agreement.
Almagro who will depart on Thursday, also hopes the electoral process will be concluded as quickly as possible.
Under an agreement reached following the departure of President Michel Martelly earlier this year, a new date for the election was set for April 24 and a new president will be installed on May 14.
Lauryn Hill hosts headline inaugural Diaspora calling festival
Lauryn Hill and Tidal X will host a new music and art series, Diaspora Calling!, at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, April 13 through 15, Rolling Stone reported.
The event will highlight the work of artists and musicians from Africa and throughout the African diaspora, with a special focus on art and artists from Haiti and a music slate organized by Hill, who will also perform.
