Flood victims to receive 150 million gourdes
Following torrential rains in Haiti’s northern region, the General Secretari requested that the Minister of Economy and Finance, Wilson Laleau, release 150 million gourdes to help flood victims. The money will be used for emergency funding to assist with disaster relief.
Nearly 170 Haitians self deport to Haiti
Close to 170 Haitians, who were living in the Dominican Republic, returned voluntarily to Haiti. In coordination with the Dominican government, the International Organization for Migration facilitated the the migrants’ return to the northern region of Haiti. Between June 2015 and December 2015, 129,000 Dominico-Haitians have migrated to Haiti.
