New York Giants football star, Jason Pierre-Paul suffered a hand injury Saturday night, while attempting to light Fourth of July fireworks at his South Florida home.

The incident has led the New York Giants to pull a $60 million long-term contract offer to Pierre-Paul, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

“Our first concern is for JPP’s well-being,” a Giants spokesman told Rapoport.

The Giants are in the process of learning more about the incident, the specifics of the injury and any possible effects, according to reports from NFL.com.

The 26-year-old is currently hospitalized at North Broward Medical Center in Deerfield Beach, Florida, for treatment, according to the New York Post. Pierre-Paul suffered burns on his palm and several fingers, and one finger may have sustained nerve damage.

Pierre-Paul’s hand will be in tact with no permanent damage, but there is growing concern that he could miss training camp and the start of the 2015 season. It appears he is set to play 2015 on the $14.8 million franchise tag, but has yet to sign the tender.
