The Adria Hotel was the site for the first annual Fall Fashion Show by Mimi’s BoutiQ, an online Boutique that, according to owner Merline Thermora, “caters to everyone” and sells clothing that is “comfortable, chic and fun to wear.” The Fall Fashion Show, which took place on Aug. 28, is an extension of Mimi BoutiQ’s already successful run of fashion shows out of Miami.
Mimi’s BoutiQ’s first New York show, hosted by Haitian radio host/entertainment personality Carel Pedre and model Tico Armand, was quite the success. The show featured designs by Haitian designers LaBelle Couture, Classy Lady Creations, Marly Alexandre and Myrielle Pierre and showcased beautiful dresses, gowns and accessories. Monochromatic tones, pastels, bright accents, chic headwear, plunging necklines, elaborate trains and exotic prints were all on display.
“My motivation for opening Mimi’s BoutiQ is the love and the passion that I have for the fashion world,” she says. Thermora opened the boutique and started the shows in 2011, which has steadily gained popularity ever since.
As for her future plans, Thermora has a lot in store for Mimi’s BoutiQ. Apart from working on and producing other fashion shows, she plans to launch a new clothing line and website, aiming to make it look “fresh and different.” She also has plans to host networking events geared toward providing women the opportunity to meet and greet within the community.
