Even a millionaire artist can feel the recession. Wyclef Jean lost his Miami Beach home last Friday when the bank put it into auction. But the bank said the artist could still proceed to construction if he wants to. Jean failed to pay the bank the $2.4 million including interest on a $2-million loan he took out with several partners in 2004 to purchase the property. Wyclef never paid off the more than $177,000 in construction costs he owed and left the home unfinished for over two years.
