Haitian Independence hero Toussaint Louverture will be honored on April 11 in Chaville, France. That is the date when city is remembering “the black Spartacus” in a ceremony to be attended by local officials and other dignitaries. Toussaint Louverture and Aime Cesaire will be the subjects of a weeklong conference and concerts sponsored by the city that will take place at the Atrium de Chaville. The event will also mark the anniversary of the death of the Haitian hero on April 7. “There is no individual in the world who has done more than Toussaint Louverture to advance black people in the modern world, we absolutely must honor that achievement,” said one staff organizer to Showbiz.
