Joel “Ti Jojo” Sylvain, one of the oldest members of Phantoms is hospitalized in Brooklyn with a pulmonary embolism, a close friend said last week.
Jojo was admitted to Franklin Hospital in Valley Stream, Long Island, after suffering severe chest pains, said the friend.
He underwent several tests and has been diagnosed with cancer, according to a Showbiz insider. The musician is currently undergoing treatment and has been in intensive care with a tube that helps him breath.
Family, friends, and Phantoms members spent most of their time last week at his bedside. He was also visited by other musicians. Showbiz wishes him a speedy recovery.
