Three new musicians are looking to run for public office in Haiti in the next legislative and mayoral elections, according to media reports. Evens Jean told Haitian Times Showbiz that he’s seriously thinking about it, and wants to seek a seat in the Senate and that he may be ready in two years. Ti Djo Zenny of Kreyol La has also revealed his ambition to run one day, and that he’s currently taking some legal courses to get ready for the job. Mizik Mizik’s own Eric Charles might want to fill the mayoral seat for Delmas. All three musicians are political self-starters, and say that their decision might motivate young people to get involved if they are elected. In the last couple of years, the Haitian political arena has expanded and become more diverse, but much work remains in making elected office a reality for the artists.
