Shoubou Levels the Rap Field

Those who think that Rap music does more harm than good in the Haitian music scene may think again. One of the most celebrated Compas singers, Shoubou has collaborated with Haitian born MC Jimmy O on a song where he raps as a guest artist with Wyclef Jean. Shoubou is not a fan of rap, but he’s heard rap that he doesn’t mind and like to put his voice on. Jimmy believes in connecting beat-oriented modern styles with an old-school voice like Shoubou’s creates an innovative style through which he aspires to create timeless songs that reach across social boundaries. The song has been on rotation on the radio in Montreal, and the album “Vi Privem” is set to be released next week in Haiti.
