Traditionally, Martelly has been a music business name. Olivier Martelly’s family has an unbroken tradition of Haitian culture for over 40 years from Candio to Richard Morse to Sweet Micky. It seems that Micky’s oldest son is following footsteps of his father by forming his own band BIG O. Sources revealed that Olivier was trained rigorously by his father in business, but not necessarily in the art of Compas music. Olivier started his musical training at a very early age. Under the tutelage of his father, he first publicly performed at the age of 11. He can be seen in numerous videos alongside his father, uncle and younger brother. After several months of studio recording and rehearsal, BIG O will finally hit the Compas scene as early as January 2008.
