Tabou’s percussionist Yvon “Kapi” Andre has released a solo CD after 40 years with the legendary band.
Kapi, who has released tracks in the past with Tabou Combo and for his solo projects, shows his uniqueness and versatility in producing songs other than Compas. In his long musical career, the Miami-based musician has been active in producing music with powerful lyrics; even local bars, restaurants and barber shops have been part of his lyrics lately. The aptly-titled CD, “KAPI,” contains a selection of tracks showing off the musician’s natural assets and talents and less an artist distinguishing himself by making a unique, creative product in terms of form or content.
