Haitian Superstar Wyclef Jean is a regular performer on the African scene where his concerts usually draw large audiences. This time the artist was invited to Nigeria for two performances: one in public, and another at the Governor’s mansion. The River State capital as the South State prepares to host its first ever peace concert scheduled for December 5 planned as the cultural festival CARNIRIV. But Wyclef was put as plan B, according to an informant in Ghana, because the Haitian superstar asked half a million dollar to perform at the Governor’s mansion. Compared to Mario and Eve whose bills are much lower, the informant said that Jean will perform only if the mobile wireless company, Zain, which is launching a new mobile phone at the event, agrees to offer the money. Jean told journalists on phone that it was a delight to stage a show in Ghana and promised to explore the possibility of having collaboration with a Ghanaian artist.
