After more than a year of hiatus, Philippe Saint-Louis has resumed his popular weekly event “Soiree des artistes” at club Aux Calebasses. The evening of the show was highlighted with a fashion show and performances by local bands: Back-up, Akajou, and N’Joy. The night of artists features dozens of acts that covered a broad spectrum of artistic skills. The show has proved that Haiti’s thriving arts scene exists throughout the alleys and small streets that make up this important cultural mosaic that needs more exposure and publicity. As far as the public is concerned, Soiree des Artistes remains a social utility that connects the many Haitians artists with friends and others who work, inspire by, and live around them.
