The 29th Carbet Prize will be held and presented next weekend in Martinique, and this year Haitian writers got five nominations, including Louis-Philippe Dalembert, Lyonel Trouillot, Joel Desrosiers, James Noel, and Harry Laurent. Several cultural events will be held throughout this week to celebrate the event, hosted by French philosopher Regis Debray. A record of 200 writers, poets, filmmakers were nominated in different categories, and the jury is expecting that Haiti will get the top prizes.
