Culture Project at the United Nations could not be happier by inviting Haitian Diva Emeline Michel to its 2009 “International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade”. Last Wednesday, Emeline surprised the select audience with the unveiling of an all-new performance. The all-star event showcased several world renowned artists such as Kimany Marley, Gilberto Gil, Angela Brown, Nile Rodgers and others. In an effort to look different from her previous on-stage persona, Emeline sang “Beni Yo”, one of the most profound songs of her latest album, perfectly fit for the event. She relived the sad memories of the Transatlantic Slave Trade that has been etched in our minds.
