
More than 6,000 artists are expected to participate in the sixth Francophone Games in Beirut in September and organizers expect to draw about 100,000 visitors over two weeks. Last week in Paris, Haitian artist Dominique Domercant was among many artists selected throughout the world to be part of the Games that include both arts and sports. Les Jeux de la francophonie is juried, with artists submitting examples of their work and judges selecting participants. The Francophone games are held every four years, with the participation of around 3,000 athletes, youths and artists from 56 French speaking countries and also 14 observer countries. It is a high level sport and art festival and popular event. Lebanon has been chosen to host the Francophone Games, which will be held in Beirut from 27th of September to 6th of October 2009.
