Ansyto Mercier’s daughter, Dayan narrowly escaped death after contracting poison from one of her classmates. The girl spent several hours in hospital recovering from the substance that was put in her lunch.
Her teacher first noticed something was wrong when she was sweating and shaking and was suffering from diarrhea. Doctors took one day to diagnose Dayana’s ailment, but were puzzled how she was struck down. It was only when test results showed she had picked up the poison from her food in her lunch box. Luckily Dayana battled back to health but nurses later told her parents that their daughter was lucky to survive. Dayana Mercier won the silver medal in the Vocal/Gospel category at the 2007 World Championship Performing Arts in California.
