A huge fire burned through the roof of the popular Haitian restaurant Nuvo Kafe in North Miami. The restaurant, which regularly hosted poetry nights, book, and CD signing, also served as a nightclub where solo artists and trio bands used to perform. A short circuit is being considered the possible cause for this tragic fire, which destroyed most of the furniture and Haitian paintings that were displayed for sale. Cushion, wood tables, and alcohol at the bar spread the fire rapidly, one eyewitness said. The owner, Chef Ivan Dorvil, is a well known cook in South Florida who has been the personal chef for Puff Daddy, Gloria Estefan, Lil’ Wayne, Arthur Teele, Janet Reno and other celebrities.
