Although the earthquake in Haiti spared the lives of art collector George Nadere Sr. and his wife, it smashed their life’s work.
As many as 12,000 pieces of art worth $400 million USD in the Naderes’ hilltop 35-room mansion were destroyed when the home collapsed.
The artwork in stock were left crushed by concrete and covered in dust. Some have tried to recover the artwork collected over the past 60 years, using shovels and other equipment, but to no avail.
