Days after Haiti’s “Musée d’Art” was all but destroyed by the earthquake, officials of the institution on Champ-de-Mars announced ambitious new plans to rebuild.

The museum could be renamed and may be reopened in one year, provided museum officials raise about $100,000. Artist Euvodie Volmar said this is a terrible loss, but at least they saved some of art pieces that can be repaired and get a facelift.

The museum is widely recognized as one of the most important art facilities in Haiti, and has presented major exhibitions for more than two decades.
